Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho Anime Revealed as TV Series Set for 2024

The previously announced Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho anime project has been revealed to be a TV anime series that will premiere sometime in 2024. The anime was confirmed in the 14th and final volume of the light novel series. 

More details about the anime adaptation such as the premiere date, voice cast, and production staff have yet to be announced.

News of an anime for Sword of the Demon Hunter was first confirmed in September 2021 through a promotional video for the original light novels. 

The light novels are written by Motoo Nakanishi, with illustrations by Tamaki. It was first published by Futabasha from June 21, 2019 to November 22, 2023. Fourteen total volumes were released during its publication run. The series began as a web novel that ran from January 2013 to October 2016. 

A manga adaptation by Yuu Satomi was launched in 2021, with five tankoubon volumes released as of September 2023. 

Seven Seas Entertainment is releasing both the manga and light novels in English, describing the synopsis as:

In the Edo era, young Jinta and his sister must flee their home, finding refuge in a mountain village. Years later, Jinta has grown into a skilled swordsman, sworn to protect the priestess of the village shrine. Charged with slaying a demon that threatens the shrine, Jinta confronts the malevolent creature in the forest, only to learn a shocking truth. The demon speaks of events one hundred and seventy years hence, when Jinta must confront the demon in the future. Thus begins an epic fantasy journey that spans multiple eras as Jinta hunts a demon through time and must come to terms with his own dark nature.
