Scott Pilgrim Takes Off Releases Final New Trailer Centered on Ramona Flowers

Netflix has released a new trailer for the upcoming Scott Pilgrim Takes Off animated series, focusing on the relationship between the titular character and Ramona Flowers. The show is scheduled to debut on Netflix November 17, 2023. 

Spanish animator Abel Góngora (Star Wars: Visions: “T0-B1” director) is directing the animated series, with original creator Bryan Lee O’Malley, 2010 live-action film director Edgar Wright, and BenDavid Grabinski as executive producers. Joseph Trapanese and chiptune pop rock band Anamanaguchi are composing the musical score. Science SARU is handling the main animation production for the series, with Eunyoung Choi as producer. 

The ensemble voice cast retains many actors from the original 2010 film, which features:

  • • Mark Webber as Stephen Stills
  • • Mae Whitman as Roxy Richter
  • • Ellen Wong as Knives Chau

O’Malley’s original graphic novel series was published by Oni Press from August 18, 2004 to July 20, 2010. Six total volumes were released. The series also inspired a mobile comic and video game adaptation. 

A previous animated short titled Scott Pilgrim vs The Animation produced by Titmouse Inc. aired on Adult Swim on August 12, 2010.

Scott Pilgrim meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, but learns he must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her. Then things get even more complicated. Based on the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O’Malley.
