Singapore-based film distributor Encore Films has revealed that it will be bringing the new Hayao Miyazaki film The Boy and the Heron to Southeast Asian audiences. Further details have not yet been announced.

In addition to the main Encore Films Facebook and Instagram accounts, the announcement was also made on the distributor’s regional accounts for Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

The Boy and the Heron premiered in Japan on July 14 with little promotion and is set to begin screening in the US on December 8. The movie, which is Miyazaki’s first film since 2013’s The Wind Rises and supposedly his (new) last, is currently the 74th highest-grossing movie in its home country. The film shares its Japanese title, How Do You Live?/Kimitachi wa Dou Ikiru ka, with the name of the 1937 novel by Genzaburou Yoshino.

American distributor GKIDS describes The Boy and the Heron as:

A young boy named Mahito
yearning for his mother
ventures into a world shared by the living and the dead.
There, death comes to an end,
and life finds a new beginning.

A semi-autobiographical fantasy
about life, death, and creation,
 in tribute to friendship,
from the mind of Hayao Miyazaki.
