Netflix has revealed a new official trailer for its upcoming anime-inspired series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, which will debut on the platform on November 17, 2023.

The latest explosive trailer highlights the many action-packed and strikingly colorful battles between Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flower’s ex-partners. The trailer is also matched with theme music reminiscent of the main Mortal Kombat video game theme.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is directed by Spanish animator Abel Góngora (Star Wars: Visions: “T0-B1” director), with original creator Bryan Lee O’Malley, 2010 live-action film director Edgar Wright, and BenDavid Grabinski as executive producers. Joseph Trapanese and chiptune pop rock band Anamanaguchi are composing the musical score. Science SARU is the main animation production company, with Eunyoung Choi as producer.

The ensemble voice cast retains many of the 2010 film’s original cast members, including Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers, Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Chris Evans as Lucas Lee, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pilgrim, Brie Larson as Envy Adams, Alison Pill as Kim Pine, Aubrey Plaza as Julie Powers, Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram, Jason Schwartzman as Gideon Graves, Johnny Simmons as Young Neil, Mark Webber as Stephen Stills, Mae Whitman as Roxy Richter, and Ellen Wong as Knives Chau.

O’Malley’s original graphic novels were published by Oni Press from August 18, 2004 to July 20, 2010. Six collected volumes were released in total. The series also inspired a mobile comic and video game adaptation.

A previous animated short titled Scott Pilgrim vs The Animation produced by Titmouse Inc. aired on Adult Swim on August 12, 2010.

Netflix describes the synopsis of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off as:

Scott Pilgrim meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, but learns he must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her. Then things get even more complicated. Based on the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O’Malley.
