The upcoming Mr. Villain’s Day Off anime has received its first trailer and a new visual, along with a January 2024 premiere window and details about its cast and theme song artists.
The newly announced cast members include Souma Saitou as Rooney, Yuuichi Nakamura as Trigger, Hiiro Ishibashi as Akatsuki Red, Takuya Eguchi as Souten Blue, Ai Kakuma as Shinonome Pink, Hibiku Yamamura as Reimei Green, and Yuuichirou Umehara as Yoiyami Black. For the theme songs, Ivudot is the opening song artist while GLASGOW is singing the ending song.
Mr. Villain’s Day Off is based on the Square Enix-published manga by Yuu Morikawa, which began serialization on Gangan Pixiv in 2018 and has five tankoubon volumes as of April 2023. Manga Up! describes the synopsis as:
An Evil Organization from another planet is trying to take over Earth. An extraterrestrial from that organization named the “General” tirelessly fights against Earth’s defenders every single day in a battle of life and death! However, today is his day off.
The staff of the anime includes Yoshinori Odaka (BEM) as director, Midori Gotou (Smile of the Arsnotoria the Animation) as series composer, Tomomi Shimazaki (A Couple of Cuckoos sub-character designer) as character designer, and Nobuaki Nobusawa (Police in a Pod) as music composer. Shin-Ei Animation and SynergySP are co-producing the show.
