MF Ghost Releases 5th Trailer


Yet another trailer has been released for MF Ghost, the upcoming racing anime set in the world of Initial D. The show is set to premiere in Japan on October 1 (effectively October 2 at 12 AM JST),

MF Ghost is based on the Kodansha-published manga by Initial D‘s Shuuichi Shigeno, which began in 2017 and has 17 tankoubon volumes as of June 2023. The series, which is serialized in Weekly Young Magazine and published under the Yanmaga KC Special label, is set in the 2020s of Initial D‘s world, where self-driving cars are common in Japan. During this time, a race known as MFG has been gaining popularity across the world. Kanata Rivington, a graduate of a British racing school, returns to Japan to achieve a certain goal. 

MF Ghost is directed by Tomohito Naka (New Initial D the Movie Legend 3: Dream, New Initial D the Movie Legend 2: Racer), with other staff including:

• Series composer: Kenichi Yamashita (Hensuki: Are You Willing to Fall in Love with a Pervert, as Long as She’s a Cutie?
• Scriptwriters: Yamashita and Akihiko Inari (Inazuma Eleven GO: Galaxy)
• Character designer and chief animation director: Naoyuki Onda (Inuyashiki)
• Chief animation director: Chiyoko Sakamoto (Otherside Picnic)
• 3D director: Hiroki Uchida (Salaryman’s Club 3DCG director) 
• Music composer: Akio Dobashi (New Initial D the Movie Legend trilogy) 
• Animation production company: Felix Film
• CG animation production: Felix Film and directrain

Yuuma Uchida and Ayane Sakura are voicing the lead characters Kanata Katagiri/Kanata Rivington and Ren Saionji, respectively. Other cast members include Daisuke Ono as Shun Aiba, Hiroshi Kamiya as Mikhail Beckenbauer, Daisuke Namikawa as Daigo Oishi, and Junichi Suwabe as Kaito Akaba. 

Some of the returning Initial D cast include Yasunori Matsumoto as Wataru Akiyama, Tomokazu Seki as Keisuke Takahashi, Mitsuo Iwata as Itsuki Takeuchi, Kazuki Yao as Koichiro Iketani, Wataru Takagi as Kenji, and Nobutoshi Canna as Kai Kogashiwa.
