The upcoming Fall 2023 mystery anime Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective has received a second trailer, which previews more scenes of its detective duo as well as the opening song “Ikenai fool logic” by UNISON SQUARE GARDEN.

A couple more voice cast members were also announced. Jun Fukuyama is playing detective Omito Kawasemi while Nao Touyama is playing neurosurgeon Mofu Usaki.

Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective will premiere on October 2 with Crunchyroll streaming outside Japan. The anime is based on the Shueisha-published, Shonen Jump Plus-serialized manga by Akira Amano, which began in October 2020 and has 11 tankoubon volumes as of July 2023. The upcoming release is described as the anime’s “1st Season.”

Manga Plus describes the manga as:

This unusual duo brings the hidden truth into the light! Ron Kamonohashi, a private investigator with serious issues, and Totomaru Ishiki, a pure-hearted but dim police detective, team up to solve the most baffling mysteries! A thrilling detective story for a new generation from Akira Amano, creator of “Reborn!” and “?ldlive”!

The anime has the same director-series composer-character designer trio as the adaptation of The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent, namely Shouta Ibata, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU author Wataru Watari, and Masakazu Ishikawa. It also shares the same animation production studio, Diomedea. Composing the music is You Tsuji (The Mystic Archives of Dantalian).

Melvyn originally wanted to write about video games, and he did so for a few years, starting from his college days. He still writes about video games sometimes, but now focuses on anime-related news content and the occasional review. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive. Every anime season, Melvyn looks forward to discovering new standout episodes and OP/ED animation sequences, as well as learning about the storyboard artists and directors behind them.
