The Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable! TV anime adaptation has received a new character trailer and visual. The featured character this time is Yumiri Hanamori‘s Sayuri Akino, a seemingly cool and unapproachable gal who is actually shy and a fan of games.

Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable! (Dosanko Gal wa Namaramenkoi) will premiere sometime in January 2024. The anime is based on the Shueisha-published romantic comedy manga by Kai Ikada, which Manga Plus describes as:

High school boy Tsubasa moves to Kitami City up in Hokkaido, where he meets a “gal” at a bus stop. The sight of her standing alone against the white snowscape, bare-legged despite the freezing cold, captures his heart.

Misuzu Hoshino (The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious) is directing the SILVER LINK and BLADE co-production with Katsuyuki Satou (My Stepmom`s Daughter Is My Ex) as character designer. Mirai Minato (The Maid I Hired Recently Is MysteriousWhen Will Ayumu Make His Move? director) is serving as chief director and series composer.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Ayane Sakura as Minami Fuyuki, Reina Ueda as Rena Natsukawa, and Nobunaga Shimazaki as Tsubasa Shiki.

The Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable! manga began serialization in Shonen Jump+ 2019 and has 11 tankoubon volumes as of July 2023. It was originally a one-shot.

Melvyn originally wanted to write about video games, and he did so for a few years, starting from his college days. He still writes about video games sometimes, but now focuses on anime-related news content and the occasional review. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive. Every anime season, Melvyn looks forward to discovering new standout episodes and OP/ED animation sequences, as well as learning about the storyboard artists and directors behind them.
