The Odekake Kozame ONA series has released a special collaboration visual and animated short with Netflix’s Gamera: Rebirth anime. All 6 episodes of the latter are now available to stream on Netflix.
The new visual highlights the titular Kozame-chan shark character in giant form, wearing a mock Gamera shell. In the short, Kozame-chan and Gamera meet for the first time and peacefully enjoy onigiri together on top of a building.

Gamera: Rebirth has previously collaborated with another short anime series in Nights with a Cat.
Odekake Kozame has been released weekly on YouTube since August 1, 2023. Kana Hanazawa voices Kozame-chan and also sings the anime’s ending theme “Yorimichi.”
The production staff consists of Marina Maki (Kemono Michi: Rise Up sub-character designer) as director, Hiroaki Nagashima as series screenwriter, Arisa Yoshii as character designer, Kisuke Koizumi (My Happy Marriage) as sound director, and Akemi Sasaki (Digimon Ghost Game) as photography director. ENGI is the animation production company for the short series.
The ONA is based on a web manga series by Penguin Box that was first released on Twitter in June 2021. It was later published in Enterbrain’s Aokishi magazine on October 20, 2021 under the Kitora imprint. Three tankoubon volumes have been released as of May 2023.

The story of Odekake Kozame follows a little shark named Kozame-chan and its adventures in the nostalgic Yauo town. From radio exercises, festival stalls, and meeting new friends, Kozame-chan engages in a variety of heartwarming experiences around town.
