Bandai Namco Entertainment has revealed a September 28 launch date for My Hero Ultra Rumble, the free-to-play team-based battle royale game based on the My Hero Academia series, by way of a release date announcement trailer. The game will be available on Xbox Series X/S (omitted from the Japanese website), Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Steam, and Nintendo Switch.
My Hero Ultra Rumble features eight teams of three squaring off against each other, and the trailer is packed with footage of various team compositions going at it with each other (an early part of the video delivers the sight of Tsuyu Asui kicking All Might into the ground). Also previewed are some new characters who weren’t part of the open beta roster, namely Eijiro Kirishima, Momo Yaoyorozu, and Ibara Shiozaki. More characters will be added with new seasons.
The battle royale divides the heroes and villains of My Hero Academia into five archetypes — Strike, Assault, Rapid, Technical, and Support — and further defines their capabilities through their respective Quirks. Some of the characters who will be available at launch include Izuku Midoriya, Himiko Koga, Katsuki Bakugo, and Tomura Shigaraki. Players can also expect to find customization options, seasonal events, and gacha elements in the game.
