The production team for the upcoming Berserk of Gluttony anime series revealed that the show will begin airing on October 4, 2023. A new key visual featuring the main cast has also been unveiled.
Episodes will also begin streaming three days earlier in Japan on the streaming services U-NEXT and Anime Hodai on October 1, 2023.
Tetsuya Yanagisawa (Orient) is directing the anime, with Mariko Kunisawa (Orient) as series screenwriter and Takafumi Furusawa (Orient animation director) as character designer. A.C.G.T. is handling the animation production for the series.
Meanwhile, the voice cast includes Ryouta Oosaka as Fate, Tomokazu Seki as Greed, Hisako Toujou as Roxy, Misato Matsuoka as Myne, and Hitomi Sekine as Eris
The anime is based on the light novels written by Ichika Isshiki and illustrated by fame. It originated as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou on January 24, 2017, before moving to Kakuyomu in 2022. Micro Magazine then published the light novels on November 30, 2017 under the GC Novels imprint. Eight volumes have been released as of October 2022.
A manga adaptation by Daisuke Takino was launched in Comic Ride magazine on March 1, 2018. Ten tankoubon volumes have been released as of April 2023, with an 11th volume set for release on October 31, 2023.
Crunchyroll will stream Berserk of Gluttony outside of Japan and describes the synopsis as:
Fate, a castle guard in a world where one’s skills are everything, has acquired a skill called “Gluttony” that does nothing but make him hungry, leaving him with a miserable life.
But one day, he defeats some who are bandits infiltrating the castle, and his world changes.
Thus begins the story of how a young man once ridiculed as talentless climbed from the lowest stratum of life to the top.
