Bandai Namco Entertainment has released new preview trailers for the upcoming Sword Art Online Last Recollection action RPG, which shine a light on the game’s playable roster and more of the weapon types that players can wield.
In addition to Kirito’s Aincrad comrades, the original characters from previous Sword Art Online games, and various Integrity Knights, Sword Art Online Last Recollection will allow players to control Dark Territory figures like Shasta, Lipia, Dee Eye Ell, and Iskahn. Human Empire characters like Selka and Sortiliena are also playable.
Meanwhile, the second Weapon Type Introduction Trailer (Part 1 was released in June) continues to highlight the game’s arsenal with both gameplay footage and text descriptions of their playstyles (the 1-handed mace, for instance, can support allies with fortification and recovery effects in addition to bashing enemies). Some of the notable weapons previewed are Renly’s exclusive Twin-Wing Blades and a new weapon type called melee, which involves unleashing a succession of rapid strikes up close and parrying attacks. Argo’s claws and Iskahn’s fists and legs fall under the latter.
Sword Art Online Last Recollection is set to launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One on October 5 and on Steam on October 6. The AQURIA-developed game will feature an alternate take on the events of Sword Art Online – Alicization – War of Underworld, with differences including Kirito not being comatose, Eugeo being alive, and the inclusion of the Dark Knight Dorothy (Rina Satou) and her ward Sarai (Yuuki Kuwahara).

This is the culmination of the SAO game series, featuring high-speed battles, MMO-like multiplayer, over 40 playable characters, and the largest number of unique endings.
