The Shangri-La Frontier anime adaptation has received a second key visual and an October 1 premiere date. New cast members and theme song details were announced as well.
The newly announced names include Yumiri Hanamori as Psyger 100/Momo Seika, Sayaka Senbongi as Animalia, and Seiichirou Yamashita as Orcelott. For the opening theme, the title is “BROKEN GAMES” and the song artist is FZMZ. The ending song is titled “Ace” and performed by CHICO.

The anime is based on the KADOKAWA-published Shangri-La Frontier: Kusoge Hunter, Kamige ni Nidoman tosu ~ manga written by Katarina and drawn by Ryousuke Fuji. The plot is set slightly in the future, where games that use displays are considered to be retro. Rakuro Hizutome, the “Crappy Game Hunter,” dedicates himself to VR games of questionable quality, but one day tries the highly popular “godly game” called Shangri-La Frontier.
Toshiyuki Kubooka (Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina) is directing the anime with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina) as series composer and scriptwriter, and Ayumi Kurashima (Nomad: Megalo Box 2 character designer) as character designer and chief animation director. C2C is the animation production company.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Yuuma Uchida as Sunraku/Rakuro Hizutome, Azumi Waki as Psyger-0/Rei Saiga, Youko Hikasa as Arthur Pencilgon/Towa Amane, Makoto Koichi as OiKatzo/Kei Uomi, Rina Hidaka as Emul, and Akio Ootsuka as Weiss Ash.
The Shangri-La Frontier: Kusoge Hunter, Kamige ni Nidoman tosu ~ manga began in 2020 and has 14 tankoubon volumes as of July 2023. The series is serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine and published under the KC Deluxe label. The manga is itself an adaptation, with the story originating as a web novel by Katarina that began serialization on Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2017.
