Netflix has released a new trailer and visual for the upcoming Akuma Kun anime, in addition to revealing a November 9 release date.
Aside from containing new scenes, the trailer provides a preview of the cast’s voices.
Akuma Kun, along with the upcoming Kitaro Tanjou: GeGeGe no Nazo anime movie, is part of a 100th year Birth Anniversary project for the late manga artist Shigeru Mizuki. The show is set 30 years after the 1989 Akuma-kun anime and sees Akuma-kun the Second and Mephisto the Third tackling demon-related mysteries.
Junichi Satou (Akuma-kun series director, A Whisker Away co-director) is serving as chief director with Fumitoshi Oizaki (A Centaur’s Life chief director, Etotama) as series director and Hiroshi Oonogi (GeGeGe no Kitaro Season 6) as series composer. Encourage Films is the animation production company.
Other staff members include Wataru Osakabe (Pompo the Cinephile 2D design works) as magic circle designer, Akio Izutsu (Phi-Brain Puzzle of God) as music composer, Kunio Tsujita (Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-) as color designer, Takeo Ogiwara (Wonder Egg Priority) as compositing director, and Sakae Shibuya (Deaimon characer designer) as chief animation director.
Meanwhile, the cast members include:
• Yuuki Kaji as Akuma-kun the Second.
• Yuuko Mita as the first Akuma-kun (reprising her role from the 1989 anime)
• Toshio Furukawa as Mephisto the Second (reprising his role from the 1989 anime) and Mephisto the Third
• Ryoko Shiraishi as Sanae Kazama
• Yumiri Hanamori as Mio Kazama
• Fairouz Ai as Gremory
• Yukiyo Fujii as Hina Asanagi
Akuma Kun originated as a rented manga, with the original series running from 1963 to 1964 before being followed by a few other titles like Saishinban Akuma-kun (Akuma-kun Latest Version) and Nostradamus no Daiyogen (Prophecies of Nostradamus). The titular moniker of Akuma-kun has been held by various characters.
