Milan Records has released the original soundtrack for the currently airing Undead Murder Farce anime adaptation. The release features 30 tracks from composer yuma yamaguchi (Flavors of Youth).

In a statement included with the press release, yamaguchi revealed that aside from being requested to compose “darker and heavier” music, he was given free rein for the anime’s soundtrack composition. “This allowed me to really expand and take many different approaches all within the same soundtrack,” he said. “I was able to cross over from typical orchestra pieces, and also include jazz, minimal, post-classical, IDM and ethnic choral music. I feel I built a really dense soundtrack where every song can stand alone, and as a whole it is rich with different textures, genres and influences.”

Undead Murder Farce (alternatively titled Undead Girl Murder Farce in some other places) premiered on July 5. It is based on the Kodansha-published novel series written by Yuugo Aosaki with cover illustrations by Oh!Great. The supernatural mystery anime is streamed by Crunchyroll, Ani-One Asia, and Bilibili outside of Japan.

Kodansha USA describes the Haruka Tomoyama-drawn manga adaptation of the novels as:

The end of the 19th century—a vampire’s wife is murdered, and the detective known as the “cage user” is called in to solve the crime. But there’s more to the detective and the curtained birdcage he carries…after all, when solving a case involving a monster, it might just take one to know one!

The anime is directed by Mamoru Hatakeyama (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) with Noboru Takagi (In/Spectre) as series composer, Noriko Itou (Kakegurui xx sub-character designer) as character designer and chief animation director, and Naho Kozono (Shine On! Bakumatsu Bad Boys co-sub-character designer) as sub-character designer and chief animation director. Lapin Track is the animation production company.
