The Mobile Suit Gundam franchise is getting a new animation project called Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance, Anime News Network has reported. A notable factor that sets this new entry apart from previous titles is the use of Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5 game engine/3D creation tool for the whole production.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance takes place during the classic Universal Century timeline and will tell a story from the Principality of Zeon’s perspective. A trailer shown at Anime Expo 2023 is said to have revealed the show’s “eleven months after the revolutionary war” placement in the UC timeline and the studio Safe House as the production company.

The show is said to have Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt and the late 1990s OVA Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team as its influences.

Erasmus Brosdau, the person behind the Warhammer 40,000 fan film The Lord Inquisitor, is handling directorial duties for Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance. Other staff include:

• Scriptwriter: Gavin Hignight (Tekken: Bloodline, Transformers: Cyberverse)
• Main character designer: Manuel Augusto Dischinger Moura
• Music composer: Wilbert Roget II (Call of Duty WWII, Mortal Kombat 11)
• Mechanical design supervisor: Kimitoshi Yamane (Mobile Suit Gundam: Reconguista in G and Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin co-mechanical designer)

The lead character of the project will be voiced by Celia Massingham (Hedy Lamarr in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow). Massingham is also the motion-capture actor.
