The Wit Studio and Cloverworks co-production is inspired by the Shueisha-published manga by Tatsuya Endou (who is serving as supervisor for the movie). The first season of the anime aired with two split cours, with the first cour debuting on April 9 while the second premiered in October 2022. The second cour was streamed by Crunchyroll, Bilibili, and Muse Asia outside of Japan.

Viz Media describes the manga as:

Not one to depend on others, Twilight has his work cut out for him procuring both a wife and a child for his mission to infiltrate an elite private school. What he doesn’t know is that the wife he’s chosen is an assassin and the child he’s adopted is a telepath!

The Spy x Family manga began in 2019 and has 11 tankoubon volumes as of April 2023. It is serialized on Shonen Jump+ and published under the Jump Comics+ label.

The main cast of the anime includes Takuya Eguchi as Loid Forger, Saori Hayami as Yor Forger, and Atsumi Tanezaki as Anya Forger.
