TMS Entertainment has announced that it will be presenting a panel for the upcoming Undead Unluck anime series at the 2023 Anime Expo convention. The program will take place on July 2, 2023 at 1:30 PM PST in the Main Events Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Voice actors Natsuki Hanae (voice of Shen) and Moe Kahara (voice of Fuuko Izumo) will be attending the panel as special guests, along with Undead Unluck manga editor Takumi Hashimoto and Ryouta Hasegawa, the producer of the anime adaptation.
The panel event will give U.S. audiences a first look at the anime adaptation of Yoshifumi Tozuka’s Undead Unluck manga. The program will feature a discussion and Q&A session with the guests, along with video commentary from voice actor Yuuichi Nakamura (voice of Andy), followed by an exclusive premiere of an unreleased preview of the series.
A trivia and giveaway contest, hosted by the voice cast, will proceed after the panel. All attendees will also receive an Anime Expo exclusive Undead Unluck fan, which was specially designed for the panel.
The Undead Unluck anime is scheduled to premiere sometime in October 2023.
Yuuki Yase (Zaregoto) is serving as the series’ director, with Hideyuki Morioka (Fire Force Season 1) as character designer, and Kenichirou Suehiro (The Eminence in Shadow) as music composer. David Production is handling the animation production, with TMS Entertainment assisting with general production and planning under its Unlimited Produce subsidiary.
The original manga was first serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump on January 20, 2020 under the Jump Comics label. Sixteen tankoubon volumes have been released as of May 2023, with a 17th volume set for release in July 2023.
Viz Media releases the Undead Unluck manga in English and describes the story as:
All Fuuko wants is a passionate romance like the one in her favorite shojo manga. Unfortunately, her Unluck ability makes that impossible. But just as Fuuko hits rock bottom, Andy sweeps her off her feet—literally! Now she’s become Andy’s unwilling test subject as he works to find a way to trigger a stroke of Unluck big enough to kill him for good. However, when the pair discovers a secret organization is hunting them, it puts Andy’s burial plans on hold.
