That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime and Genjitsu no Yohane — Sunshine in the Mirror will have a collaboration in the form of a chibi anime, which is set for a June 21 premiere. The chibified versions of both titles’ characters can be seen in an announcement visual.
The collaboration anime’s premiere will precede the start of the Genjitsu no Yohane — Sunshine in the Mirror anime series, which will premiere on July 2 in Japan (June 25 on ABEMA). More details will be announced later.
Previously, Genjitsu no Yohane — Sunshine in the Mirror received a 2023 April Fool’s visual that renamed the show to Tensei Shitemo Numazu Datta Ken, a reference to That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime‘s Japanese title (Tensei Shitara Suraimu Datta Ken).
The Genjitsu no Yohane — Sunshine in the Mirror anime itself began as an April Fools’ joke (in 2022). The anime is inspired by a series of illustrations that began in 2020 and feature the Yohane persona of chuunibyou character Yoshiko Tsushima in a fantasy setting. A Kadokawa-published, Kouta Matsuda-illustrated manga titled Genjitsu no Yohane -Unpolarized Reflexion- began serialization in 2022.
The That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime anime series, an adaptation of Taiki Kawakami‘s Kodansha-published manga adaptation of the isekai fantasy light novels by Fuse, began in 2018 and is set to have a third season.
