The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Semifinal Releases New Trailer

A new trailer has been released for the upcoming The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Semifinal TV anime series. The production team announced that the anime’s sequel will air sometime in 2024. 

The 55-second trailer showcases many of the tennis teams that were featured in the first 13-episode U-17 World Cup season, building up to the announcement of the sequel’s premiere in 2024. 

The production staff of The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup includes Keiichiro Kawaguchi (Higurashi: When They Cry – GOU, Higurashi: When They Cry – Sotsu) as director, Akiharu Ishii (Noblesse) as character designer and chief animation director, Mitsutaka Hirota (EDENS ZERO) as series screenwriter, and Chihiro Tamaki (Ongaku Shoujo) as music composer. Studio KAI and M.S.C are in charge of the animation production for the series. 

Meanwhile, the voice cast includes Junko Minagawa as Ryouma Echizen, Ryoutarou Okiayu as Kunimitsu Tezuka, Hiroki Yasumoto as Houou Byoudouin, Junichi Suwabe as Keigo Atobe, Sachiko Nagai as Seiichi Yukimura, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Kuranosuke Shiraishi, Tarusuke Shingaki as Eishirō Kite, and Mamoru Miyano as Ryouga Echizen.

The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup aired from July 7, 2022 to September 29, 2022. It was the first The Prince of Tennis II TV anime since 2012 and took place after the events of the 2014 OVA The Prince of Tennis II OVA vs Genius10

The Prince of Tennis manga series by Takeshi Konomi ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from July 19, 1999 to March 3, 2008. The manga’s sequel The Prince of Tennis II was first serialized in Jump Square on March 4, 2009 and has released 38 tankoubon volumes as of February 2023. A 39th volume is set for release on July 4, 2023. 

The manga also inspired multiple anime series, OVAs, and movies, with the first Prince of Tennis TV anime running from 2001 to 2007.
