The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Semifinal Begins in 2024

A 2024 premiere date has been announced for The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Semifinal anime.

The anime’s logo, featuring the colors of the Japanese and German teams, was also released.

The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup premiered in July 2022. It was the first The Prince of Tennis II TV anime since 2012 and took place after the events of the 2014 OVA The Prince of Tennis II OVA vs Genius10

When tennis phenom Ryoma Echizen is kicked out of Japan’s elite U-17 training camp for breaking the rules, he’s despondent. But a stroke of good luck hits when he’s able to try out for the U.S. team. Proving himself against their hardened veterans isn’t going to be easy, and if he is accepted, he’ll have to play against his former friends. Can he help his new brothers smash their way to victory?

The staff of The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup includes Keiichiro Kawaguchi (Higurashi: When They Cry – GOU, Higurashi: When They Cry – Sotsu) as director, Akiharu Ishii (Noblesse) as character designer and chief animation director, Mitsutaka Hirota (EDENS ZERO) as series composer, and Chihiro Tamaki (Ongaku Shoujo) as music composer. Studio KAI and M.S.C are the animation production studios.

Meanwhile, the voice cast includes Junko Minagawa as Ryouma Echizen, Ryoutarou Okiayu as Kunimitsu Tezuka, Hiroki Yasumoto as Houou Byoudouin, Junichi Suwabe as Keigo Atobe, Sachiko Nagai as Seiichi Yukimura, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Kuranosuke Shiraishi, Tarusuke Shingaki as Eishirō Kite, and Mamoru Miyano as Ryouga Echizen.

The Prince of Tennis manga series by Takeshi Konomi began in 1999, while the sequel The Prince of Tennis II (The New Prince of Tennis in Japan) begin serialization in Jump Square in 2009 and has 38 tankoubon volumes as of February 2023.

The manga series has spawned multiple anime series, OVAs, and movies, with the first Prince of Tennis TV anime running from 2001 to 2007.
