The upcoming Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence anime adaptation has revealed two more cast members: Tomoaki Maeno and Reina Ueda. Maeno is playing the role of Gieselbert, Hazelita‘s brother, while Ueda is voicing the saint Frederica.

Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence will begin airing in July, following a delay that saw it miss its original April premiere date. It is based on the Kodansha-published manga series by Hazano Kazutake, which began in 2017 and has 11 tankoubon volumes as of November 2022.

Kodansha USA describes the premise as:

Saint Cecilia is beloved by the townspeople—not only is she elegant and composed, she benevolently shares her wisdom with all who seek it. That is, until the last person has left—at which point she becomes totally hopeless! Only Pastor Lawrence is keeping the Saint put together enough to do her duties…and though she may test him, it’s all in a day’s work!

Sumie Noro (Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle assistant director) is directing the anime at Doga Koba with Yuka Yamada (Tokyo Mew Mew New) as series composer and Hiromi Nakagawa (WATATEN!: an Angel Flew Down to Me) as character designer. Other staff include:

• Art director: Chieko Nakamura (Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop)
• Compositing director: Seiichi Sugiura (Osamake: Romcom Where The Childhood Friend Won’t Lose)
• Color designer: Genta Makabe (Osamake: Romcom Where The Childhood Friend Won’t Lose
• Music composer: Ruka Kawada (Kiniro Mosaic: Thank You!!)

The previously announced cast includes Hime Sawada as Cecilia, Kaito Ishikawa as Lawrence, Kanna Nakamura as Hazelita, and Haruki Ishiya as Abel.

Melvyn originally wanted to write about video games, and he did so for a few years, starting from his college days. He still writes about video games sometimes, but now focuses on anime-related news content and the occasional review. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive. Every anime season, Melvyn looks forward to discovering new standout episodes and OP/ED animation sequences, as well as learning about the storyboard artists and directors behind them.
