OSHI NO KO Manga’s Twitter Releases Akane Kurokawa Profile Picture To Celebrate Follower Count

The Twitter account of the OSHI NO KO manga has released an image of Akane Kurokawa, meant to be used by fans as a profile picture, to commemorate reaching 180 thousand followers (the account now has over 213 thousand followers at the time of writing). Another image will be released in the near future to celebrate its 190-thousand-follower milestone.

The Akane profile picture is preceded by similar images of Ai Hoshino, Aqua Hoshino, Ruby Hoshino, and Kana Arima. The Ai profile picture was released on April 21 to commemorate the OSHI NO KO manga account reaching 150 thousand followers.

OSHI NO KO is written by Aka Akasaka, illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, and published by Shueisha. The entertainment industry-themed manga began serialization in Weekly Young Jump in 2020 and has 10 tankoubon volumes as of January 2023. It is published under the Young Jump Comics label.

Yen Press describes the premise as:

Gorou is a gynecologist and idol fan who’s in shock after his favorite star, Ai, announces an impromptu hiatus. Little does Gorou realize that he’s about to forge a bond with her that defies all common sense! Lies are an idol’s greatest weapon in this outrageous manga from Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and Mengo Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish). 

A Doga Kobo-produced anime adaptation of OSHI NO KO premiered on April 12. The anime is directed by Daisuke Hiramaki (Selection ProjectAsteroid in Love)with other main staff including:

• Assistant director: Chao Nekotomi (Love Is Like a Cocktail director [as Saori Tachibana], Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie opening director and storyboard artist)
• Character designer and chief character designer: Kanna Hirayama (Rent-A-Girlfriend)
• Series composer: Jin Tanaka (Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, Laid-Back Camp
