Otaku Elf Reveals New Character Visual Featuring Himawari Kohinata & Yord

The production team for the Otaku Elf anime series has revealed a new character visual, featuring Himawari Kohinata and Yord. The two new characters appeared briefly in the third episode, before becoming the focus in episode four. The 12-episode anime premiered on April 8, 2023. 

Kohinata and Yord are voiced by Teru Ikuta and Rie Kugimiya, respectively. They join a main voice cast that includes Yuka Ozaki as Koito Koganei, Ami Koshimizu as Elda, Haruka Aikawa as Koma Sakuraba, and Hitomi Sekine as Koyuzu Koganei.

Takebumi Anzai (Hitori Bocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu, PuraOre! Pride of Orange) is directing the anime with Shougo Yasukawa (The Executioner and Her Way of Life) as series screenwriter and scriptwriter, Takeshi Oda (Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina) as character designer and chief animation director, and Akito Matsuda (Hibike! Euphonium Movie 3: Chikai no Finale) as music composer. C2C is handling the animation production for the series.

Akihiko Higuchi’s original manga series was first serialized in Kodansha’s Shounen Magazine Edge on June 17, 2019 under the Shonen Magazine Edge Comics label. Seven tankoubon volumes have been released as of March 2023. Seven Seas Entertainment releases the manga in English.

HIDIVE is streaming the anime outside of Japan and describes the series as: 

Takamimi Shrine has an unusual resident – Elda, an ancient elf who’s obsessed with video games! The shrine’s teenage attendant, Koito Koganei, keeps this reclusive otaku well supplied with energy drinks and junk food. Even though she loves 100%-ing her games, Elda has duties to attend to, and Koganei is bound and determined to make this otaku elf fulfill them! It’ll just take an offering or two to bribe—um, we mean convince Elda to put down her new game…
