The anime is based on the light novel series written by Zappon and illustrated by Yasumo, which is published under the KADOKAWA Sneaker Bunko label. News of a second season was first revealed last October.

The first season of the anime was directed by Makoto Hoshino (The Little Lies We All Tell) with Megumi Shimizu (Tomo-chan is A Girl!) as series composer, and Ruriko Watanabe (The Little Lies We All Tell) as main character designer. Wolfsbane and Studio Flad were the animation production studios.

Meanwhile, the cast includes:

• Ryouta Suzuki as Red
• Kanon Takao as Rit
• Naomi Oozora as Ruti
Sora Amamiya as Yarandrala
Taku Yashiro as Ares
Aya Uchida as Theodora
Kenta Miyake as Danan
• Rie Kugimiya as Tise.

The Banished From The Hero’s Party books began in 2018 and include a prequel volume. The 12th numbered volume will be released on April 28.

Yen Press describes the plot as:

Red was once a member of the Hero’s party, a powerful group destined to save the world from the evil forces of Taraxon, the Raging Demon Lord. That is, until one of his comrades kicked him out. Hoping to live the easy life on the frontier, Red’s new goal is to open an apothecary. However, keeping the secret of his former life may not be as simple as he thinks. Especially when the beautiful Rit, an adventurer from his past, shows up and asks to move in with him!

Banished From The Hero’s Party began as a web novel in 2017 on Shousetsuka ni Narou. The light novels have inspired a manga adaptation by Masahiro Ikeno.
