MyAnimeList Announces “Ultimate” List of Manga Recommendations by International Readers

The popular anime and manga database platform MyAnimeListhas partnered with “manga enthusiasts worldwide” to unveil  “You Should Read This Manga 2023, which it describes as “the world’s first ultimate list of manga recommendations.”

The “You Should Read This Manga 2023” project features online nominations from users worldwide, which are then curated for the “ultimate list” of manga recommendations by a panel of judges that consists of international booksellers and Trusted Users on MyAnimeList.

Finalists are divided into the main “You Should Read This Manga 2023” category and three subcategories (20 titles each): “Should Be Anime,” “ Best for Beginners,” and “Unique Art/Story.” Every manga included is officially available outside Japan in at least one language, with one or more volumes published in 2022. Some of the titles in the  “You Should Read This Manga 2023” category include Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, The Apothecary Diaries, and Dandadan

Outside of the nomination categories, there are also publisher and bookstore recommendations and the “Try This Manga-for Free!” and “Finished Manga List” categories.

In an effort to bring attention to these recommended manga titles, MyAnimeList has announced plans to display eye-catching signs featuring popular comments in both international bookstores and online. MyAnimeList also declared its intentions to make “You Should Read This Manga” an annual event, with the stated goal of promoting manga across the globe.
