DMM.com has established an animation production studio called CUE with Rui Kuroki as president.

Kuroki was formerly affiliated with Production I.G, where he served as production manager and executive officer. Kuroki has animation producer credits on titles like Ao Ashi, Fate/Grand Order THE MOVIE – Divine Realm of the Round Table: Camelot – Paladin; Agateram, and Psycho Pass 3: First Inspector.

CUE is located in Tokyo’s Minato City. The company’s name is inspired by both the word that signals the start of voice-recording and the cue stick. The press release stated that it hopes that CUE’s works will receive a “break” like billiard balls and spread across the world.

The press release added that CUE’s formation stemmed from the pursuit of an “environment that can offer even higher quality anime” due to the current increase of anime’s international popularity.

DMM.com owns the streaming site of the same name as well as DMM pictures, a label formed in 2017 that involves itself in anime planning, licensing, and production committees. DMM pictures is involved in anime like Ya Boy Kongming!, Endo and Kobayashi Live! The Latest on Tsundere Villainess Lieselotte,  Giant Beasts of Ars, and Rent-A-Girlfriend Season 2.

Melvyn originally wanted to write about video games, and he did so for a few years, starting from his college days. He still writes about video games sometimes, but now focuses on anime-related news content and the occasional review. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive. Every anime season, Melvyn looks forward to discovering new standout episodes and OP/ED animation sequences, as well as learning about the storyboard artists and directors behind them.
