At the World Dai Star AnimeJapan 2023 stage event, a new key visual was released to promote the mixed-media project. The visual was drawn by artist Mika Pikazo, who contributed the original character designs for the series, and highlights the series’ main characters.
The TV anime series will air in Japan on April 9, 2023. Additionally, a mobile game titled World Dai Star: Yume no Stellarium will be released sometime this coming summer.
World Dai Star had a noticeable presence at Bandai Namco’s AnimeJapan 2023 booth, displaying various stands of the characters and showing off the anime’s PV trailer. In addition, a special panel was held and featured the series’ voice actresses Manaka Iwami, Ikumi Hasegawa, Sally Amaki, and Nanako Mori, who served as the panel’s MC. The panel was also where the new key visual was revealed by the voice cast.
Yuu Kinome (Idoly Pride) is directing the anime series with Takahiro Nakanishi (A Couple of Cuckoos) as series screenwriter, and Maziro (Macross Delta) as character designer. The project’s story draft and concept is credited to manga writer Takahiro (Akame ga Kill), while original character designs are by Mika Pikazo. Lerche is in charge of the animation production for the series.
Other staff members include Ohine Ezaki (Rusted Armors series screenwriter) as stage scriptwriter and theater supervisor, Yopi as sub-character designer, Ryouko Amisaki (Kino’s Journey: The Beautiful World character designer) as action animation supervisor, Hiroko Tanabe (A3!) as art director, and Saki Tada (Toilet-Bound Hanako–kun) as color designer. Ryou Takahashi (High Card), Kenichi Kuroda (The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat), and Tetsuya Yano (The Detective is Already Dead co-composer) are serving as the music composers for the anime series.
The full voice cast includes Manaka Iwami as Kokona Ootori, Ikumi Hasegawa as Shizuka, Maria Naganawa as Yae Niizuma, Naomi Oozora as Panda Yanagiba, Rico Sasaki as Chisa Sasuga, Sally Amaki as Kathrina Griebel, and Nanako Mori as Noa Hiiragi.
World Dai Star takes place in a world where the theater scene is experiencing a worldwide boom, due to the advent of performers called Dai Stars. The story follows 16-year-old Kokona, who joins the world class Sirius Troupe in order to become a top World Dai Star.
