Mask Danshi: This Shouldn’t Lead to Love Gets OAD on October 20

Fuji TV has announced that Mitsuru Sangou’s Boys-Love manga Mask Danshi: This Shouldn’t Lead to Love will receive an OAD special. The OAD will be bundled with the manga’s fourth volume as a special Blu-ray disc, which will be released on October 20, 2023. 

A 1-minute PV trailer was also uploaded on Fuji TV’s Blue Lynx YouTube channel. The Blue Lynx label is a subsidiary of Fuji TV that specializes in producing different Boys-Love media. 

To commemorate the announcement of the anime, Sangou released a special illustration featuring Tsuzuru Saikawa and Keigo Sayama.

Naoko Takeichi (Cooking With Valkyries) is directing the OAD, with Fumiyo Sakai (Wasteful Days of High School Girls) as the screenwriter, Homura Kaneda as character designer, and Sounosuke Takao (Fairy Ranmaru) as music composer. Studio Fusion is in charge of the animation production for the OAD. 

Additional staff members include Erika Ikeda as animation director, Aibou as art director, Ayako Tan (Higurashi: When They Cry – GOU/SOTSU) as the series’ editor, Megumi Himeno (Midnight Occult Civil Servants) as director of photography, Sayuri Yoshida (Massara music video) as color designer, and Miho Sugawara as sound director. 

The voice cast features Takuya Eguchi as Tsuzuru Saikawa and Yuusuke Kobayashi as Keigo Sayama.

Sangou first launched the Mask Danshi manga in Libre Publishing’s B-BOY P! magazine on November 26, 2019. Three tankoubon volumes have been released as of April 2020.

BookWalker releases the manga series in English digitally and describes it as: 

Sayama is a pessimistic guy who always wears a face mask to school. When the most popular boy in class, Saikawa, rips off the mask out of curiosity, Sayama flips out. Despite his harsh words, he’s somehow captured Saikawa’s interest, who offers to tutor him with a bizarre condition: to let him do as he pleases with what’s under Sayama’s mask.

Sayama hates it when people touch his bare face, lips, and mouth, but he can’t resist Saikawa’s attention…
