The official Twitter account for the Solo Leveling anime adaptation has released a new trailer and announced a Winter 2024 premiere date.
The anime series was originally set for a 2023 release, according to an announcement at Anime Expo 2022. The new trailer featured Jinwoo Sung and some animation of the beginning of the story.
The main staff includes Shunsuke Nakashige (Mother of the Goddess’ Dormitory) as director, Noboru Kimura (Healer Girl, Amaim Warrior at the Borderline) as head writer, Tomoko Sudo (Fragtime) as character designer, and Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan Final Season co-composer) as music composer. A-1 Pictures is in charge of the animation production.
Crunchyroll will stream the series and describes it as:
It’s been over a decade since the sudden appearance of the “gates”—the paths that connect our world with a different dimension. Since then, certain humans have awakened to supernatural powers. We call these individuals “hunters.” Hunters make their living by using their powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates. In this world of tough customers, the low-ranked hunter Jinwoo Sung is known as “the weakest hunter of all mankind.” One day, Jinwoo gets fatally injured when he runs into high-rank double dungeons hidden within a low-rank dungeon. Just then, a mysterious quest window appears in front of him. On the verge of death, Jinwoo decides to accept the quest and starts leveling up… while the others aren’t.
Solo Leveling was originally a Korean web novel written by Chugong and illustrated by Dubu. It later inspired a webtoon drawn by Dubu. Both the web novel and webtoon have received Japanese localizations. The anime trailer’s credits and the recent volumes of the webtoon’s Japanese publication credit H-Goon with adapting Solo Leveling.
Yen Press is publishing the Korean web novel and manhwa in English. Tapas Media is releasing it digitally.
