The Twitter account of the Dark Gathering anime adaptation has announced Rina Kawaguchi as the voice of the character Ai Kamiyo.

Ai is a first-year high schooler who is tutored by main character Keitaro Gentoga. She suffers from extreme misfortune, which led to her brother dying in the past.

Dark Gathering is set to premiere sometime in Summer 2023. It is based on the Shueisha-published Dark Gathering manga by Kenichi Kondou, which began in 2019 and has 11 tankoubon volumes as of December 2022. The manga is serialized on Jump Square and published under the Jump Comics Digital label.

The premise involves university student Keitaro helping the young prodigy that he is tutoring, Yayoi Hozuki, to find the latter’s mother, who was taken by evil spirits. Keitaro has medium-like qualities and became a recovering recluse after his friend was involved in a supernatural incident. Yayoi also has supernatural abilities, as well as unusual pupils, but because spirits avoid her, she requires the help of Keitaro and his ability to attract spirits.

Hiroshi Ikehata (Tonikawa: Over The Moon For You) is directing the anime with Shigeru Murakoshi (Management of a Novice Alchemist) as series composer, Shinya Segawa (Garakowa – Restore the World) as main character designer, Yuuhou Andou (Shin Chuuka Ichiban!) as compositing director, and Ritsuko Utagawa (Raven of the Inner Palace) as color designer.

KOHTA YAMAMOTO (Attack on Titan Final Season co-composer), Shun Narita (Ippon Again!), and Yuusuke Ceo are composing the musical score. OLM is the animation production company.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Yuu Sasahara as Yayoi, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Keitaro, and Kana Hanazawa as Eiko Hozuki.
