A trailer has been released for the upcoming horror anime Feast of Amrita, which begins screening in Japan on May 26.
It was also announced that Kana Hanazawa will have a special part as Rin, the heroine she played in director Saku Sakamoto’s previous film Aragne: Sign of Vermillion (which Feast of Amrita is a prequel to). A “Refine Edition” of Aragne: Sign of Vermillion will be screened with Feast of Amrita as a double feature.
Feast of Amrita stars Maaya Uchida as high school student Tamahi, with other cast members including Mamiko Noto as Aki and MoeMi as Yuu. The plot is described as:
The prequel (Beginning) of “Aragne:sign of Vermillion”. Set in the housing complex before Rin, the main character of “Aragne”, visits, it depicts the fear and fantasy experienced by a high school girl, Tamahi, who witnessed a new apparition.
Both films are solo productions with Sakamoto serving as animator, scriptwriter, music composer, and creator in addition to directing. Aragne: Sign of Vermillion premiered in 2018 at the 2018 Fantasia Festival and was also screened at other film festivals like Annecy 2019 (as part of the Midnight Specials official selection) and Taichung International Animation Festival 2019.
Feast of Amrita and Aragne: Sign of Vermillion Refine Edition will be screened at several locations including Tokyo’s Cine Libre Ikebukuro, Aichi’s Cinema Skhole, and Osaka’s Cine Libre Umeda.
