A TV anime adaptation of Yuu Morikawa‘s Mr. Villain’s Day Off manga has been announced with a trailer and commemorative illustration from Morikawa.

Yoshiki Kodaka (BEM) is directing Mr. Villain’s Day Off with series composition by Midori Gotou (Smile of the Arsnotoria the Animation), character designs from Tomomi Shimazaki (A Couple of Cuckoos sub-character designer), and music composition by Nobuaki Nobusawa (Police in a Pod). Shin-Ei Animation and SynergySP are co-producing.

Shintarou Asanuma is voicing the titular villain, who is referred to as Warumono-san in the original manga and as “General” in the English translation.

Manga Up! describes the synopsis as:

An Evil Organization from another planet is trying to take over Earth. An extraterrestrial from that organization named the “General” tirelessly fights against Earth’s defenders every single day in a battle of life and death! However, today is his day off.

Mr. Villain’s Day Off is published by Square Enix. It began serialization on Gangan Pixiv in 2018 and has four tankoubon volumes as of February 2022.
