Netflix has released an action-filled teaser trailer for Ultraman: Final Season. The show is set for a Spring 2023 release.
The teaser reveals that the new season of the 3DCG anime series will see protagonist Shinjiro Hayata struggling to control his powers and becoming seen as a threat to mankind. Additionally, he has to deal with newly revealed enemies Valcure (M.A.O) and Mephisto (Koji Ishii).
The Ultraman anime is based on the Heroes-published manga series written by Eiichi Shimizu and drawn by Tomohiro Shimoguchi. The first season was released on Netflix in 2019 while the second season was released in 2022.
Viz Media describes the manga as:
Shinjiro is an ordinary teenager, but his father is the legendary Shin Hayata. When he learns that his father passed on the “Ultraman Factor” to him and that he possesses incredible powers, nothing will ever be the same again.
Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki are returning as directors with Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi as music composers and Production I.G and SOLA DIGITAL ARTS as the animation production studios.
The Ultraman manga began in 2011 and has 19 tankoubon volumes as of January 2023. It is currently serialized on Comiplex and published under the Hero Comics label.
