The upcoming second cour of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch of Mercury, which is set to begin in April, is now officially termed as the second season of the show. The “Season 2” moniker was used both in a tweet from the show’s Twitter account as well as a shot from the 12th and last episode of the now-first season.

Season 2 is also set to have 12 episodes according to the Blu-ray listings.

Season 1 of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch of Mercury premiered on October 2, 2022. The show is airing in MBS and TBS’s revived Nichigo time slot, in which multiple cour anime tend to have consecutive cours. The first season suffered three main delays during its run, with the last two being due to special programming.

The show is the first Gundam anime to feature the new Ad Stella timeline and a female protagonist. The premise is described as:

A.S. (Ad Stella) 122―

An era when a multitude of corporations have entered space and built a huge economic system.
A lone girl from the remote planet Mercury transfers to the Asticassia School of Technology,
run by the Beneritt Group which dominates the mobile suit industry.

Her name is Suletta Mercury.
With a scarlet light burning in her pure heart,
this girl walks step by step through a new world.
