The Toilet Bound Hanako-kun Twitter account has confirmed that fans will be getting another anime based on AidaIro‘s supernatural manga series. The form of the new anime is still unknown, with the announcement simply stating that the anime project is getting restarted.

Megumi Ogata and Akari Kitou will be reprising their roles as Hanako-kun and Nene Yashiro respectively.

The previous Toilet Bound Hanako-kun anime aired in 2020 with 12 episodes. Masaomi Andou (Rumble Garanndoll, Scum’s Wish) directed the show with Mayuka Itou as character designer, Yasuhiro Nakanishi (A Couple of Cuckoos) as series composer, and Lerche as the animation production company.

The Square Enix-published series began serialization in Monthly G Fantasy in 2014 and has 19 tankoubon volumes as of August 2022. It has inspired a spin-off titled After-school Hanako-kun.

Yen Press describes the premise as:

“Hanako-san, Hanako-san…are you there?” At Kamome Academy, rumors abound about the school’s Seven Mysteries, one of which is Hanako-san. Said to occupy the third stall of the third floor girls’ bathroom in the old school building, Hanako-san grants any wish when summoned. Nene Yashiro, an occult-loving high school girl who dreams of romance, ventures into this haunted bathroom…but the Hanako-san she meets there is nothing like she imagined! Kamome Academy’s Hanako-san…is a boy!
