A new PV trailer and opening theme song have been released for the upcoming original action anime series Revenger. The series will begin airing on January 5, 2023.
The anime’s opening theme is “Down Timer” by music ensemble RetBear, consisting of Vocaloid music producer Kairiki Bear and an unknown Vocaloid singer. Meanwhile, the ending theme is “Un_mute” by Maaya Sakamoto.
The production staff includes Masaya Fujimori (Kemono Jihen) as director, Gen Urobuchi (Psycho-Pass) as series screenwriter and co-script writer with Renji Ooki (Bubble), and Yuuji Hosogoe (Saga of Tanya the Evil) as character designer. Hosogoe joins Yuuki Nishioka (Bokura no Nanokakan Sensou) and Emiko Endou (Kemono Jihen) as animation supervisors. Jun Futamata is composing the musical score and Urobuchi is credited with the original story concept. Ajia-do Animation Works is handling the animation production.
Nitroplus and Shouchiku announced the anime’s production in September 2022 and are credited as original planners.
The main voice cast is headlined by Jun Kasama as Raizo Kurima, Yuuichirou Umehara as Yuen Usui, Shunsuke Takeuchi as Teppa Murakami, Shouta Hayama as Soji, and Hisako Kanemoto as Nio. Additional cast members include Akio Ootsuka as Gerald Kano and Takehito Koyasu as Jinkuro Isarizawa.
Crunchyroll is streaming Revenger in January 2023 and describes the anime as:
As master assassin Usui Yuen looks into a series of assassinations made on the grand samurai clan, the Satsuma, he encounters Kurima Raizo, member and survivor of one of the attacks.
