Crunchyroll has announced some of the international release dates for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond.
The United Kingdom and Ireland will get the film first on January 18, followed by Australia on January 19. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond will next premiere in the United States and Canada on January 20, before arriving in Mexico on January 26.
The release dates for the Middle East and other European territories will be announced later.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond premiered in Japan on November 25. It features an original story draft from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime creator Fuse. Crunchyroll describes the movie’s plot as:
A long-running conspiracy is swirling over a mysterious power known as “Queen” in Raja, a small country west of Tempest. When a slime who evolved into a Demon Lord named Rimuru Tempest crosses paths with Hiiro, a survivor of the Ogre race, an incredible adventure packed with new characters begins. The power of bonds will be put to the test!
The staff includes Yasuhito Kikuchi (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 1) as director, Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime series composer and scriptwriter) as scriptwriter, Ryouma Ebata (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) as character designer, and Takahiro Kishida (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) as monster designer. Eight Bit is again the animation production company. The cast for the movie’s original characters includes Yuuma Uchida as Hiro, Riko Fukumoto as Towa, and Subaru Kimura as Lacua.
The That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime anime series is based on Taiki Kawakami‘s Kodansha-published manga adaptation of Fuse’s light novels, which is serialized in Monthly Shonen Sirius and published under the Sirius KC label. The manga began in 2015 and has 22 tankoubon volumes as of December 2022.
The first season of the anime ran from 2019 to 2020 with 25 episodes, while the second season aired in 2021 with 26 episodes and a split-cour format. A third season was announced in November.
The light novel series, which is illustrated by Mitz Vah and published under Micro Magazine’s GC Novels label, began in 2014 and released its 20th volume on September 30, 2022. The franchise includes multiple manga spin-offs as well as an anime spin-off series titled The Slime Diaries. The story began as a web novel in 2013 on Shousetsuka ni Narou.
