A new key visual has been released for the second cour of the long-running anime series Yowamushi Pedal Limit Break. The current fifth season first premiered on October 10, 2022. Due to special FIFA World Cup programming, the ninth episode of the fifth season will air on December 18, 2022.
The new opening theme for the second cour is “Last Scene” by Japanese rock band Novelbright, and the ending theme is “Action” by Daiki Yamashita with Yuusuke Saeki.
The production staff for Yowamushi Pedal Limit Break includes Osamu Nabeshima, who directed the series’ past seasons, as director and Hiroyuki Horiuchi, who worked as a main animator in the franchise, as the anime’s ride designer. Yukiko Ban served as character designer while Kurasumi Sunayama is credited as series screenwriter. Yoshio Mizumura and Hiyori Denforword Akishino were in charge of the mechanic designs for season five. TMS Entertainment returned as the main animation production company.
Yowamushi Pedal is based on a manga series by Wataru Watanabe and was first published on February 21, 2008 with 75 tankoubon volumes released as of December 2021. It is currently serialized in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shounen Champion under the Shounen Champion Comics label.
Watanabe also launched a spin-off series titled Yowamushi Pedal: Spare Bike on August 16, 2012, which has released seven tankoubon volumes so far. The franchise has inspired an anime film, live-action drama series, video games, and a live-action film adaptation.
The first season aired in 2013 and was followed up by Yowamushi Pedal: Grande Road in 2014 and Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation in 2017. The fourth season, Yowamushi Pedal: Glory Line, aired in 2018. Crunchyroll is streaming all the seasons on its digital platform.
