Toho has released a new 30-second teaser trailer for Naoko Yamada’s latest upcoming original anime film Kimi no Iro. Science SARU is handling the animation production and the film will premiere sometime in Fall 2023.  More information about Kimi no Iro will be released at a later date.

Joining director Naoko Yamada on this project is Reiko Yoshida (The Heike Story) as screenwriter and Kensuke Ushio (Chainsaw Man) as music composer. This is the latest project to feature Yamada, Yoshida, and Ushio after working together on A Silent Voice, Liz and the Blue Bird, and The Heike Story.

Yamada most recently traveled to the Scotland Loves Animation festival to screen her short anime project Garden of Remembrance. In an interview with Anime News Network, she said that she was currently creating storyboards for an original anime film with Science SARU

Kimi no Iro follows a high school student named Totsuko, who has the ability to see people’s emotions as colors. To avoid darkening the emotions of her friends and family, she is often cautious of every situation and tells white lies to keep the peace. One day, she comes across a beautiful girl in a secondhand bookstore who radiates a very beautiful color. She also meets a boy who loves music. The three people with overly sensitive emotions get together and form a musical band to power through their youth.
