Crunchyroll revealed at 2022 Comic Con Experience (CCXP) that the Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac CG anime will receive a third season. The streaming platform did not reveal a release date for the show.
The plot is described as:
Time is running out! Only five hours remain before the god-killer arrow lodged in Athena’s chest will kill the goddess. The powerful Grand Master is the only one who can save her life, but to even reach the Grand Master’s chambers, Seiya and his fellow Bronze Knights must ascend Sanctuary and pass through all Twelve Houses, each temple guarded by a Gold Knight. Not everyone will complete the journey and reach the summit of Sanctuary where a shocking surprise awaits.
The first season of Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac was released in two parts on Netflix, with the first premiering in 2019 and the second following in 2020. The second season premiered on Crunchyroll earlier this year. Both seasons had 12 episodes.
The show, which is inspired by Masami Kurumada‘s Saint Seiya manga, is directed by Yoshiharu Ashino (Cross Ange: Rondo of Angels and Dragons) with Terumi Nishii (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable) as character designer, Eugene Son (Blade Runner: Black Lotus writer) as story editor, Takashi Okazaki (Belle co-CG character designer) as Cloth designer, and Yoshihiro Ike (Akiba Maid War) as music composer. Toei Animation is the animation production company.
