Akio Ootsuka & Takehito Koyasu Join Revenger Voice Cast

Veteran voice actors Akio Ootsuka and Takehito Koyasu are joining the cast of the upcoming anime series Revenger. Ootsuka will be voicing a character named Gerald Kano while Koyasu will be playing Jinkuro Isarizawa. The anime series is set to debut on January 5, 2023. 

Ootsuka and Koyasu join a main voice cast that includes Jun Kasama as Raizo Kurima, Yuuichirou Umehara as Yuen Usui, Shunsuke Takeuchi as Teppa Murakami, Shouta Hayama as Soji, and Hisako Kanemoto as Nio. 

The production staff consists of Masaya Fujimori (Kemono Jihen) as director, Gen Urobuchi (Psycho-Pass) as series screenwriter and co-script writer with Renji Ooki (Bubble), and Yuuji Hosogoe (Saga of Tanya the Evil) as character designer. Hosogoe is joined by Yuuki Nishioka (Bokura no Nanokakan Sensou) and Emiko Endou (Kemono Jihen) as animation supervisors. Jun Futamata is composing the musical score and Urobuchi is credited with the original story concept. Ajia-do Animation Works is handling the animation production for the series. 

Nitroplus and Shouchiku first announced the anime project in September 2022 and are credited as planning the series. 

Revenger will be streamed by Crunchyroll in January 2023, which had an early premiere at Anime Frontier 2022. The streaming platform describes the series as: 

As master assassin Usui Yuen looks into a series of assassinations made on the grand samurai clan, the Satsuma, he encounters Kurima Raizo, member and survivor of one of the attacks. Together, they discover the true nature of these murders is bigger than over stolen resources. As they get closer to the truth, will they come out alive to exact revenge?
