Sugar Apple Fairy Tale is based on the Kadokawa-published light novel series written by Miri Mikawa and illustrated by Aki. Seven Seas Entertainment, which publishes both the light novels and the new manga, describes the plot as:

Anne Halford is a candy crafter determined to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become a Silver Sugar Master, a title bestowed only by royalty. In order to travel to the capital and realize her dream, she purchases Challe, a handsome but foul-mouthed fairy, as her bodyguard. Anne wishes to befriend her new companion, but in this kingdom where fairies are treated as property, Challe wants nothing to do with humans. Will this journey with Anne change his mind…?

Youhei Suzuki (Kiyo in Kyoto, Million Arthur) is directing the anime with Seishi Minakami (Vatican Miracle Examiner) as series composer, Haruko Iizuka (Josee, the Tiger and the Fish, Horimiya) as character designer, and Hinako Tsubakiyama (Sabikui Bisco co-composer) as music composer. J.C.STAFF is the animation production company.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Yuka Nukui as Ann Halford, Masaaki Mizunaka as Shall Fen Shall, Rie Takahashi as Mythrill Reid Pod, and Tomoaki Maeno as Hugh Mercury.
