Bullbuster Mecha Anime Releases “Ultra-Teaser” Trailer

Kadokawa has released an “ultra-teaser” trailer for upcoming mecha anime Bullbuster, which provides a quick look at the cast’s designs and the show’s main mech. The “economically legitimate robot hero story” is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2023.

Bullbuster is a part of an original project that features the involvement of P.I.C.S-affiliated movie director Hiroyuki Nakao and manga creator Eisaku Kubonouchi. A concept book for the project was distributed in 2017 at COMITIA122. Later, two Kadokawa-published novel volumes, written by Nakao with cover illustrations by Kubonouchi, were released in 2018 and 2019 respectively. Plans for an anime and live-action adaptation have existed since at least 2018.

The anime’s story follows a young engineer called Tetsuro, who self-developed a robot called Bullbuster. Tetsuro is sent to a small extermination company which has to deal with mysterious large creatures in addition to its usual financial problems.

The production staff includes Aoki Hiroyasu (Hero Mask) as director and series composer, Takahisa Katagiri (Hero Mask character designer) as character designer and chief animation director, and Juuki Izumo (No Guns Life) as mechanical designer. NUT is the animation production company.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Shouya Chiba as Tetsuro Okino, Asami Seto as Arumi Nikaido, Shinichirou Miki as Koji Tajima, Yuuki Takada as Miyuki Shirogane, Uoken as Kintarou Kataoka, and Taiten Kusunoki as Ginnosuke Muto.
