Umamusume Season 3 Announced, Road to the Top Anime Coming Spring 2023

The Umamusume: Pretty Derby horse girl anime is getting a third season. The new production was announced on the second day of the Umamusume 4th event.

It was also revealed that Umamusume: Pretty Derby — Road to the Top, a separate series featuring Narita Top Road as the protagonist, will be streamed on the Pakatube YouTube channel in spring 2023. A teaser trailer has been released.

Studio Kai is producing Umamusume: Pretty Derby Season 3 while Cygames Pictures is producing Road to the Top.

The Umamusume: Pretty Derby anime released its first season in 2018 and its second season in 2021. It is part of a multimedia franchise created by Cygames

Both of the previous seasons were directed by Kei Oikawa with Yousuke Kabashima and Tomoko Tsuji as character designers. The first season was produced by P.A. Works with series composition from Cygames’ Akihiro Ishihara and Masafumi Sugiura, while the second season was produced by Studio KAI with P.A. Works credited for production assistance and Cygames credited for series composition. Tomoaki Oota served as assistant director for the first season, while Takumi Narita served in the role for the second season.

This is a tale of a world where “horse girls”; with glorious names and incredible running abilities live alongside humanity. Horse girl Special Week has moved from the country to the city to attend Tracen Academy. There, she and her classmates compete to win the Twinkle Series and earn the title of “The County’s #1 Horse Girl.”
