Shortly after the release of the final chapter of Kaguya-sama: Love is War, original creator Aka Akasaka has announced on his Twitter account that he will be retiring as a manga artist, but will continue as a writer for new works. He plans to continue drawing as a side hobby for relaxation.

Akasaka has most recently contributed the story for his and Mengo Yokoyari’s Oshi no Ko manga series that has run in Weekly Young Jump magazine since April 23, 2020. He also previously illustrated the Sayonara Piano Sonata manga from 2011 to 2012, based on a story written by Hikaru Sugii. Shueisha’s Young Jump magazine also held auditions to recruit a new manga artist to work with Akasaka on a potential new work.

Additionally, Akasaka noted that while Kaguya-sama: Love is War has concluded, its ending had some foreshadowing included in it that he intends to follow through in the best way possible later on.

Kaguya-sama: Love is War was serialized in Shueisha’s Miracle Jump magazine on May 19, 2015, but transferred to Young Jump on March 24, 2016 until November 2, 2022. 27 tankoubon volumes have been released in total as of October 2022, with a 28th volume set for release on December 19, 2022. Two manga spin-offs have also been released.

Viz releases the manga series in English. It has also inspired three television anime seasons, two live-action films, and an upcoming anime film that will premiere on December 17, 2022.

The official English website for Kaguya-sama: Love Is War -Ultra Romantic- describes the third season as:

Shuchiin Academy—an elite school where the most gifted students flock to. It is also where its Student Council brought together Vice President Kaguya Shinomiya and President Miyuki Shirogane.

While everyone expected a speedy courtship and agreed that the two geniuses would make the perfect couple, the pair, it seems, has too much pride to confess their true feelings for one another!

“By what means shall I make the other confess?” The two remain fully committed in devising a highly cerebral strategy in this cunning war of love…

Will they take their relationship to the next level by the final day of Shuchiin Academy’s culture festival!?
