Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Recap Episode Announced for November 13

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury will have a special programme recounting the events of its first six episodes on November 13. 

Following the TV broadcast of the recap episode, there will be another special program on the Gundam Channel at 5.30 PM JST. The YouTube program will have main cast members Kana Ichinose (Sulette Mercury) and Lynn (Miorene Rembran) discussing the first six episodes of the show with actor/YouTuber Kajita Mafia as host.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury debuted on October 2 and is streaming internationally on Crunchyroll, Ani-One Asia’s YouTube channel, Bilibili, and the Gundam.info channel. Its Prologue prequel short was released publicly via the Gundam.info channel on September 1. The show is airing in MBS and TBS’s revived Nichigo time slot, a slot in which multiple cour anime tend to run with consecutive cours. In The Witch from Mercury‘s case, its second cour will begin in April 2023.

The new Gundam series features the first female protagonist in a Gundam anime and takes place in the new Ad Stella setting. The premise is described as:

A.S. (Ad Stella) 122―

An era when a multitude of corporations have entered space and built a huge economic system.
A lone girl from the remote planet Mercury transfers to the Asticassia School of Technology,
run by the Beneritt Group which dominates the mobile suit industry.

Her name is Suletta Mercury.
With a scarlet light burning in her pure heart,
this girl walks step by step through a new world.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury‘s staff includes Hiroshi Kobayashi (Dragon Pilot: Hisone and Masotan, Kiznaiver) as director, Ryou Andou (Interviews with Monster Girls director) as assistant director, Ichirou Ohkouchi (Code Geass) as series composer, and illustrator Mogumo as original character designer. Marie Tagashira (Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash character animation director), Juri Toida (Gundam Build Divers Battlogue), and Hirotoshi Takaya (Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt animation character designer) are the character designers. Bandai Namco Filmworks is the animation production company.

Other staff include Seiichi Shirato (Sing a Bit of Harmony researcher) as setting researcher, science fiction author Yuuya Takashima as sci-fi researcher, Ayumi Satou (Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise) as art director, Kazuko Kikuchi (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) as color designer, Shinichi Miyakaze (SSSS.GRIDMAN) as 3DCG director, Shouta Kodera (Girls’ Frontline) as photography director, Ryouji Sekinishi (Valvrave the Liberator) as mechanical coordinator, and Takashi Ohmama (Mobile Suit Gundam: Twilight Axis) as music composer.
