A new original supernatural anime titled Ayaka will begin airing in 2023. A teaser trailer and visual from the show’s original character designer, illustrator redjuice, have been released along with main cast and staff information.
Yuuto Uemura is voicing protagonist Yukito Yanagi, an orphan on the mainland with water-manipulating powers. He is taken back to his hometown by Takuma Terashima‘s arrogant Jingi Sagawa, who claims to be a pupil of Yukito’s late father. Like Yukito, Jingi can control water.
The other revealed cast members are Takahiro Sakurai as the Shinto priest Haruaki Kurama and Yuuichirou Umehara as Aka Ibuki, the chief of an organization that exterminates entities called Aramitama. Their characters are also pupils of Yukito’s father.
GoRA (K series) and KINGRECORDS are credited with creating Ayaka. Nobuyoshi Nagayama (Love Flops) is directing with GoRA as series composer and scriptwriter, Misaki Kaneko (Smile Down the Runway) as character designer, and Kana Shibue (Sasaki and Miyano) as music composer. Studio Blanc. is producing the show.
