The previously teased P.A.Works-produced “buddy anime” is titled Buddy Daddies and will premiere in January 2023. The show has the tagline, “Family Story of Two Killers and a Girl.”

Those two killers are played by the previously announced main cast of Toshiyuki Toyonaga and Kouki Uchiyama. Their co-habitating characters are named Kazuki Kurusu and Rei Suwa respectively.

The girl they are protecting, Miri Unasaka, is voiced by Hina Kino. Miri’s character profile describes her as the four-year-old daughter of a mafia boss-slash-human trafficking broker and his lover, who gets caught up in a gun fight while searching for her father.

As for Buddy Daddies‘s staff, it was revealed that Yoshiyuki Asai (The Day I Became a God, Fate/Apocrypha) is directing the original anime with Katsumi Enami (Baccano! illustrator, The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki character illustrator) as original character designer. Other staff include Nitroplus’ Vio Shimokura (You, Me, and Her: A Love Story scenario writer) as story draft writer, Yuko Kakihara (The Aquatope on White Sand) and Shimokura as series composers, and Round Table’s Katsutoshi Kitagawa as music composer.

Melvyn originally wanted to write about video games, and he did so for a few years, starting from his college days. He still writes about video games sometimes, but now focuses on anime-related news content and the occasional review. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive. Every anime season, Melvyn looks forward to discovering new standout episodes and OP/ED animation sequences, as well as learning about the storyboard artists and directors behind them.
