The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten Begins in January 2023, Main Trailer and Visual Revealed

A January 2023 release window has been announced for The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten. A main trailer and visual for the teen romance anime have also been released.

Some additional staff details were announced as well. Masahiro Miyake (Prima Doll) is serving as art director, Hiyori’s Yukiko Ario (The Greatest Demon Lord is Reborn as a Typical Nobody) as color designer, and Tomiya Kamijou (Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway) as photography director. Furthermore, Lihua Wang is now credited as the show’s director, while Kenichi Imaizumi (Kingdom Season 3After School Dice Club) is now listed as a supervisor.

The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten is an adaptation of the SB Creative-published light novel series by Saeki-san, who first published the story as a web novel on Shoutsetsuka ni Narou in 2018. The first volume of the series featured cover art from Hanekoto with Hazano Watake handling the rest of the illustrations, while subsequent volumes saw Hanekoto being the sole illustrator.

Yen Press describes the story as:

Mahiru is a beautiful girl whose classmates all call her an “angel.” Not only is she a star athlete with perfect grades—she’s also drop-dead gorgeous. Amane‚ an average guy and self-admitted slob‚ has never thought much of the divine beauty‚ despite attending the same school. Everything changes‚ however‚ when he happens to see Mahiru sitting alone in a park during a rainstorm. Thus begins the strange relationship between this incredibly unlikely pair!

The main staff of the anime includes Keiichirou Oochi (Girlfriend, Girlfriend) as series composer, Takayuki Noguchi (Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway) as character designer, and Moe Hyuga (If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die) as music composer. project No.9 is the animation production company.

Meanwhile, the main cast includes Taito Ban as Amane Fujimiya, Manaka Iwami as Mahiru, Taku Yashiro as Itsuki Akasawa, and Haruka Shiraishi as Chitose Shirakawa.

The light novels began in 2019 and have seven main volumes and a short story collection as of September 2022. They are published under the GA Bunko label. A Square Enix-published manga adaptation by Wan Shibata began in January this year.

Update: The original article failed to note the change in directors and Kenichi Imaizumi‘s new supervisor credit. This has been corrected.
